What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient method of healing that has been effectively used to treat people world-wide for over 3,000 years. With the use of tiny needles, cupping therapy, and other techniques, acupuncture is a natural and gentle way that can help relieve symptoms that lead to various health disorders.

What can I expect on
my first visit?
On your first visit, plan around 90 minutes. Your acupuncturist will sit down and ask you questions about the state of your general health. You want to be thorough here. Based on your answers, the acupuncturist will have a better idea of how to treat both the root cause and current manifestation of your symptoms. You will then get on the table. The acupuncturist will take your pulse and look at your tongue to further confirm their diagnostic thoughts. The acupuncturist will then prepare your skin for needles, and explain the procedure. You will rest for about 30 minutes with the needles in. The acupuncturist will take the needles out, perhaps apply other techniques if needed for your condition, and you will be finished with your session.

What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga Therapy addresses habitual movement patterns that lead to chronic pain. In a Yoga Therapy initial visit, Michelle will take pictures of your posture to determine the imbalances created from daily life activities. She will review these with you and introduce you to some simple techniques to begin the process of balance. Between your initial visit and follow up visits, Michelle will create a customized plan to address your specific needs to get you out of pain and armed with skills to use over your lifetime when you fall back into old movement patterns and the pain creeps back in. For best results, a round of Yoga Therapy takes the initial session and 5 follow-up sessions spaced out once a week for 5 weeks. Your progress depends on compliance in the "homework" between sessions. When you complete the course of Yoga Therapy, you will have a customized practice that is video recorded for future reference and use.
How does acupuncture work?
Think of your body like a highway with various pathways to move traffic about. When there is congestion on one of those pathways, things slow down and clog up. The same is true for your body. When there is physical, emotional or mental congestion, the free flow of energy becomes clogged and you feel unwell. Acupuncture works to free up the congestion and get your energy flowing in harmony again.
