Electro-Acupuncture & Sports/Orthopedic Acupuncture

Targeted relief for pain, injury, and recovery
If you're dealing with a nagging sports injury, chronic joint or nerve pain, tension from repetitive movement, or you're working your way back from an injury or surgery, standard relaxation-focused acupuncture isn't always enough. Electro-acupuncture and orthopedic/sports acupuncture are more targeted techniques designed specifically for musculoskeletal and nerve-related conditions — helping you move, train, and function without pain.
At Inhale Wellness Studio, Michelle Stobart, L.Ac. combines traditional acupuncture with electro-stimulation and movement-mechanics assessment to treat the root of pain and injury, not just the symptoms.
What Is Electro-Acupuncture?
Electro-acupuncture builds on traditional acupuncture by adding a gentle electrical current to select needles once they're placed. This creates a stronger, more sustained stimulation of the nerve and muscle tissue than needling alone — which makes it especially effective for:
Chronic or stubborn pain that hasn't responded to other treatment
Nerve-related conditions like neuropathy or nerve compression
Muscle spasm, tightness, and post-injury tension
Post-stroke recovery and motor function support
Reducing inflammation and speeding tissue healing
The current is precisely controlled and calibrated to your comfort level — most patients describe it as a mild, rhythmic tapping or pulsing sensation, not a shock.
What Is Sports & Orthopedic Acupuncture?
Sports and orthopedic acupuncture applies acupuncture through the lens of anatomy and movement. Rather than treating pain generally, Michelle assesses how you move — identifying the specific muscles, motor points (where a nerve enters a muscle), and movement patterns contributing to your pain or limiting your recovery.
This approach is especially effective for:
Sports injuries and overuse injuries (runner's knee, tennis elbow, shin splints, strains and sprains)
Low back, neck, and shoulder pain
Sciatica and joint pain
Post-surgical or post-injury rehabilitation
Tendonitis and chronic tightness that limits range of motion
Getting back to training, competition, or daily activity faster and with less risk of re-injury
Who This Is For?
This treatment approach is a strong fit if you're:
An athlete or active person dealing with an injury, overuse pain, or a performance-limiting issue
Recovering from a stroke, surgery, or significant injury and want to support your rehabilitation
Living with neuropathy, sciatica, or another nerve-related condition
Managing chronic pain that hasn't fully responded to other treatments
Looking for a non-pharmaceutical option to reduce reliance on pain medication
What to Expect?
Your first visit includes a thorough intake — health history, a discussion of your pain or injury timeline, and a movement/functional assessment where relevant. From there, Michelle builds a treatment plan tailored to your specific condition, which may combine traditional needling, electro-stimulation, cupping, or other techniques depending on what your body needs.
Orthopedic Acupuncture — 1 hr 30 min — $185 initial visit. $165 follow up visits. Number of visits and length of treatment plan relative to severity of conditions.
Recommended for complicated chronic conditions such as stroke recovery, neuropathy, and sports injury.
(Electro-acupuncture may also be incorporated into standard acupuncture sessions when appropriate for your condition — ask Michelle if it's right for your treatment plan.)
Ready to Get Back to Feeling Like Yourself?
Whether you're sidelined by an injury, managing chronic pain, or working through recovery, Michelle brings clinical precision and a genuinely personalized approach to every session.
